Our founder, Dylan Gerbrandt was shaped by his youth in rural Saskatchewan, he was taught the importance of family, friends, hard work, kindness, teamwork, and taking pride in what you do. He was inspired by the quality products found in local bakeries, the customer service of the gas station down the street, and the kindness of neighbours who come help shovel your sidewalk. Because of this inspiration he wanted to create a company that embodies these values.
The name of this company is another reflection of Dylan’s roots, with a farming background and experience in the energy sector he was quite often exposed to the use of land locations. A standard land location goes as “02-03-35-22w3.” That W3 that you see at the end of it is the spark that helped to create the name. Saskatchewan's east and west borders are on lines of longitude, also known as meridians. Saskatchewan has three main Meridians; the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th. They are located on the east border (2nd), the west border (4th), and directly down the middle of the province (3rd). This essentially cuts the province into two halves. Which brings us back to the “W3” our founder grew up west of the third meridian, and just like that there was a name for this incredible venture - West of the Third Watch Company. This name is a constant reminder of where we came from and inspires us for the future to come.
